Phil Powell, Former Director, Midshire

Phil Powell is a former Director and key driving force behind the Midshire Group, a business he helped build from the ground up after leaving his role as Regional Sales Manager at Alcatel in 1990. Starting in the West Midlands, Phil expanded Midshire alongside co directors Julian Stafford, Kevin Tunley and Jim Callaghan, growing the company into a nationally recognised provider of print and telecoms solutions. Under his leadership, Midshire opened major offices in Stockport, Cardiff and Sheffield, and developed a thriving telecoms division specialising in the legal sector.

In 2014, Phil oversaw the creation of Midshire’s purpose-built 35,000 sq ft headquarters in West Bromwich, achieved without external finance. By 2017, the group had grown to £35 million turnover, 200 staff and 20,000 machines on contract. Midshire’s print operations was acquired by Sharp in 2017 and its communications arm sold in 2022.
