The PrintIT Award for Sustainable Product Design recognises innovation that reduces environmental impact across the entire lifecycle, from materials and manufacturing to energy use, longevity and end of life circularity. This category highlights the products - from printers to parts and supplies - setting new standards for sustainability in the print sector.

Entrants should provide:

750 word (maximum): Entry based around the following criteria:

• Technology innovation. Provide details of new or enhanced technologies or engineering approaches that improve sustainability performance, reduce resource consumption or extend product life.
• Environmental features. Include details of any built in features/design elements that minimise environmental impact, reduce waste or support responsible printing.
• Energy efficiency. For printers specifically, how does the product line compare to previous iterations in terms of reduced energy consumption during operation and in standby mode? Include comparative performance metrics as well as details of recognised energy efficiency standards.
• Use of recycled materials. What materials have been used, and how do they support sustainability? Include details of recycled content (PCR), responsible sourcing or material innovations.
• End of life circularity. How is the product designed for end-of-life recycling or circularity? What have you done to make the product easier to recycle, disassemble or responsibly dispose of at end-of-life?
• Remanufacturing and refurbishment schemes. Provide details of take back schemes, refurbishment programmes or design elements that enable reuse.
• Supporting evidence. This can include lifecycle assessments, environmental certifications, material breakdowns or performance data.
